By ED KOMENDA (Associated Press)SEATTLE (AP) — Telling executives to “strive harder,” hundreds of corporate Amazon workers protested what they decried as the company’s lack of progress on climate goals and an inequitable return-to-office mandate during a lunchtime demonstration at its Seattle headquarters Wednesday. The protest came a week after Amazon’s annual shareholder meeting and a month after a policy took effect requiring workers to return to the office three days per week. Previously, team leaders were allowed to determine how their charges worked. The employees chanted their disappointment with the pace of the company’s efforts to reduce its carbon footprint — “Emissions climbing, time to act” — and urged Amazon to return authority to team leaders when it comes to work location. They also objected to recent layoffs. The company has cut 27,000 jobs since November.Wearing a black pirate hat and red coat, Church Hindley...

By Catherine Thorbecke | CNNAmazon corporate workers staged a walkout on Wednesday to signal a “lack of trust” in the company’s leadership, in what is perhaps the most visible sign of dissent among the e-commerce giant’s office workers in recent memory. On Wednesday afternoon, organizers of the walkout said more than 1,000 corporate employees participated in the event. In an email the night before, organizers had said more than 1,800 Amazon employees committed to join the walkout to call attention to employee frustrations on multiple fronts, including the company’s push to get workers in the office at least three days a week.“We’re here because a lot of Amazonians feel in their gut that something is not right with the company,” Eliza Pan, a former Amazon worker and co-founder of the Amazon Employees for Climate Justice group, said Wednesday at the walkout in Seattle. “And there are a lot of signs of this, such as a rigid, one-size-fits-all return to office mandate.”The main in-person...

Fujinami used a 97-mph sinker to retire Austin Riley for the last out, and the A’s won the game 2-1 in the bottom of the ninth as Seth Brown scored from third base on Riley’s fielding error on a ground ball by Jonah Bride with the bases loaded. It was Fujinami’s third appearance in four games since Saturday and the one run he’s allowed in the past 2 1/3 innings before Wednesday was a solo homer to Braves first baseman Matt Olson on Memorial Day.For the season, though, Fujinami is 2-5 with a 12.00 ERA in 30 innings, as he continues to work his way back from a disastrous start to his big-league career in April.“We have no plans for F...
